THE MIXTAPE - VOL .2
The Mixtape - Vol .2 is inspired by lyrics of songs that really resonate with me. In this exhibition, I want to celebrate the power and poetry found in song lyrics, with a focus on the work of non-binary and female artists. Poetic lines within songs often paint vivid images in my mind when I hear them and this exhibition is my translation of these emotions and memories into visual form, art reacting to art. By exclusively drawing from female or gender nonconforming artists, I aim to explore and express a connection that feels authentic and representational to my own personal experiences.
All of the artworks are created with hand-dyed natural and reclaimed textiles.

Artist Biography
Anne De Nooijer (AKA Studio Frannie) is a contemporary textile artist, originally from the Netherlands, now living and working on Birpai Country. She predominantly creates still lifes, humans engaged in random activities and the odd landscape, focusing on details and objects that reveal the inner workings of her subjects. Her work originates from a place of contemplation, and wonder. Depicting the world around her, her inner self, social issues and pop culture through a female gaze, made with colourful hand-dyed natural or reclaimed textiles.
Her woven artworks flow organically, guided by instinct and intuition, while sewing demands precision and planning. This fusion of techniques creates a calming balance. Anne’s environmentally conscious mindset honours the natural cycle of life, with materials sourced sustainably or through community networks. She often stains her work with inks and watercolours made from the leftovers of her natural dye pots. She has exhibited her work throughout Australia and has been a finalist in several art prizes.
